There's just one day left of 2021. And no matter how skeptical you might be, it's hard not to be sucked in by the thought of making new year's resolutions. There's something about the opportunity of a blank slate and the chance to start afresh that we all love.

But looking at our kids, I realise they don't look at the world that way. Life is constantly changing, it's pretty much all they know.  Fresh starts aren't seminal moments for kids, they happen all the time. Waking up after a Wednesday afternoon nap presents them with as much opportunity for new enthusiasm as waking up on the 1st Jan would.

It reminds me that although we like to put our stake in the ground and mark the seasons, living with a fresh appetite for each new day is maybe a more enjoyable way to live.
