Weekly Roundup 12: New year, same us
There's just one day left of 2021. And no matter how skeptical you might be, it's hard not to be sucked in by the thought of making new year's resolutions. There's something about the opportunity of a blank slate and the chance to start afresh that we all love.
But looking at our kids, I realise they don't look at the world that way. Life is constantly changing, it's pretty much all they know. Fresh starts aren't seminal moments for kids, they happen all the time. Waking up after a Wednesday afternoon nap presents them with as much opportunity for new enthusiasm as waking up on the 1st Jan would.
It reminds me that although we like to put our stake in the ground and mark the seasons, living with a fresh appetite for each new day is maybe a more enjoyable way to live.
Wishing you all an abundance of joy today, and for the year ahead.
This week: cute bath toys, 2021 awards, how do you brush your kid's teeth and the best tools for weaning babies.

Cute baths
These bath toys from Danish company Quut are so creative. You'll have gathered that we like anything DIY that gets kids working things out creatively for themselves. These are some of the most creative - and beautiful - bath toys we've come across. Enjoy!
Smile, please :)
How do you brush your kid's teeth? One of the biggest bathroom conundrums we've heard from parents is the challenge of brushing your kid's teeth well. We're looking at how to make this easier for parents and better for kids dental health in 2022 and we'd love your feedback. Click here and tell us what you find hard, and how you'd like to improve it.
Nope, didn't happen
If you don't follow the legendary Didn't Happen of The Year Awards (DHOTYA) on twitter, you're missing out. Check it out now, here. This week was the year end finals and despite some stiff competition, there was one epic winner. And we give our own special mention to our kid inspired runner-up.
Baby-led... winning
If you're thinking about how your little one will transition to solid foods, here's our guide to the best cups to use as they start to learn how to drink for themselves. We're always thinking about ways to remove hassle while encouraging independence for our kids and getting this right is a biggie if you want to avoid a lot of meal time spills.
