46: Birthdays, Black Friday, light shows and more
GRASPers,
I have to say, I'm really enjoying hearing from you lot these days: feedback on the Pebbl, ideas to share in the email, what to do with that enormous stick from last week... thank you! It's much appreciated.
This week I'd especially love to hear about your take on Black Friday. We've got a thing or two planned at GRASP... and want to make sure you'll love it. So what do you look for - bundles or discounts? Make a steal or share the love? Or do you let it pass by you entirely?
Anyway, enough from me: this week's email has lots of fun in store - one way or another we're all getting in the festive spirit. Enjoy!

Costumes, lights, music... for babies
I really recommend Hartbeeps sensory play groups. I used to take my eldest when he was a baby in 2019 BC (Before Covid), and sadly my local class has moved away. Short sessions full of music, multicolour lights, costumes, lots of texture play and, inevitably, bubbles - all centred around a theme like teddy bears' picnic or superheroes. They were great fun and my son always had a great nap afterwards too. More recently I've seen Hartbeeps do at-home parties too - worth checking out!
An illuminated arts festival right here in Hackney
And speaking of lights, Hackney's about to become a canvas for some gorgeous art. Check this link for the dates when some of the borough's landmarks will host beautiful light (and other!) art featuring work by twelve artists and over 250 local residents - free to enjoy. (Thanks to my neighbour Lottie for flagging this one!).
Soapbox: How to not mess up a child's confidence
Any child we have an influence on, we think about how to make them bold and secure, without being arrogant or cocky. Over on the GRASP blog, Brook's written about finding this balance, and the right kind of 'confidence'. Don't miss this one!
